Invenco started in 2004 when Managing Director, David Scott took an “entrepreneurial punt” on a product that he had engineered and designed for the agricultural industry. After building prototypes and testing it seemed as though he had a viable venture.
The drought, however took its toll on the industry and David needed to look outside of Australia for another market.
Today Invenco has an even split of sales in the US and Australia and some sales within Europe. With an office in Sydney, sales and warehousing in Queensland and manufacturing in China and Singapore, David needed something more than MYOB to run his business.
The first challenge was remote office access. Their Queensland sales and warehouse division needed access to the invoicing and inventory. They were using MYOB, and at the time there was no alternative product offering. The suggested alternative was VPN access, which David tried, however that soon became redundant.
The next challenge was coordinating the selling combination of direct and dealer networks. The current tools meant that there was not way of tracking leads and customer details. “We were advertising and taking phone enquiries but with no formal process of capturing details about those enquiries there was no way of continuing the relationship if they had not purchased from us at the time”
After looking at systems like LeGrand, David found NetReturn and the product NetSuite. After evaluating the options of bolting together multiple applications and then choosing a single integrated solution, he became one of the first early adopters of NetSuite in Australia. “The idea of a single database appealed. One view of the customer or prospect from lead to order management to fulfillment just made much more sense.”
David was setting up a business that needed to sell in multiple markets and NetSuite was integral in the transition. Being able to build an ecommerce web site in NetSuite also impacted positively on growth of the business into these markets.
“With the business maturing and now including more products, being able to do business in the US with a multicurrency website was essential. NetSuite has become the backbone of the business.”Invenco now has a centralised database for all customers, suppliers and employees to access, wherever they are in the world.
“NetSuite is integral for operations, while we are asleep in Australia automated orders are processed through the web services, batched and sent to our 3PL warehouse provider in the US for delivery.”
The scalability of NetSuite now gives Invenco the tools to fulfill the next phase of business growth and take on other products.
With plans to find and take to market small product inventions, just as he did in 2006, bundling consulting services for other businesses looking to export and expansion into the UK by mid 2008, David knows that NetSuite is up to the task and that he has a system in place that will grow with his business.Find out more: contact NetReturn at 1300 886 025 or 0800 543 371
