The Challenge:

Brisbane-based Ephox specialise in developing powerful internet content publishing software. With a strong base in Australia , the company was increasing its sales to the key US market. In fact, over 75% of its business now comes from North America .

A tight operation of some 20 staff in technical, sales and support roles, Ephox had previously relied on a variety of software and systems for the daily operation of their business.

A home-grown system looked after sales, while CRM was managed in Outlook and MYOB handled accounting. The existing systems had trouble working in other currencies, taking up a lot of the finance team's valuable time and, what's more, the CRM, accounting and customer support modules were all separate. Sharing data between applications was difficult and time consuming, with Ephox staff having to re-key important information.

Problems with the local power supply were giving Ephox a lot of hassle. "Every time the power went off at the weekend our servers fell over," recalls Roberts. "Then we'd have to get an engineer in to fix everything." It also meant problems for Ephox's overseas staff. When the central servers were unavailable they couldn't access important data and effective remote working was getting difficult.

The Solution:

After evaluating a number of other products, Ephox spotted NetSuite. "NetSuite had more facilities and the ability to work across countries," says Roberts. "People can now work together remotely and it doesn't matter where they are." The international currency module built into NetSuite makes tracking of costs a snap and balancing the books is much easier.

"Everything is built around NetSuite," Roberts points out. "It integrates our business, with all tasks defined and recorded in the system. It's an excellent solution for a medium-sized business such as ours."

Having their data hosted off-site in NetSuite's highly secure data storage facility has cut out problems with the local power supply. Now, downtime is close to zero. Staff can access information remotely over the web without slow responses or server timeouts.

The Results:

Using NetSuite's hosted solution and integrating all the different aspects of their business locally means Ephox can now focus on expanding into a rapidly expanding overseas market.
